About Track/ Fixed/ Singlespeed Frames - A single-speed frame is a type of frame with a single gear ratio. These frames are without derailleur gears, hub gearing or other methods for varying the gear ratio of the bicycle. The fixed-gear single-speed frame is the most basic type of frame. A fixed-gear bike does not have freewheel mechanism to allow coasting. A track frame is a frame optimized for racing at a velodrome or outdoor track. Unlike road frames, the track frame is a fixed-gear frame and so has a single gear and neither freewheel nor brakes. Tires are narrow and inflated to high pressure to reduce rolling resistance. Tubular tires are most often used in track racing and training though advances in clincher tire design has seen them being used somewhat more often. While track frame are always single speed, mountain frames, road frames, cyclo-cross frames, and hybrid frames can be made as or changed into a single speed. Mountain bike single speed frames designed for trail riding often have a relatively low, or easy and slow, gear ratio. This allows them to climb hills and deal with obstacles and gradients better. This typically requires the rider to be more fit or skilled than the average rider in order to traverse the same terrain. Single speed frames designed for road riding typically have higher, or harder and faster, gear ratios. Single speed frames and fixed-gear frames are popular with bicycle messengers for their reliability and durability. Depending on the situation, a messenger may prefer a mountain bike based single-speed, which can roll over many obstacles, or a fast and light road bike-based single-speed. Flip-flop, or double-sided hubs are threaded on both sides. Usually one side has a track-type threading, (with lock ring) and the other side is threaded for a single-speed standard freewheel. About Tifosi - Introduced in 2000 the Tifosi brand was one of the first customised bike brands of the new millennium. The intention was to inspire European component parts makers in the face of the transfer of large scale bike building to the Far East. After all, bespoke tailoring has always been the hallmark of quality. The Tifosi are enthusiastic supporters of the sport in Italy which is where Chicken’s Columbus tubing originated, now produced under the CK Columbus brand name in the Far East. Tifosi frames are powder coated to the highest quality in Belgium and built in-house to customers’ specification, using a variety of group sets, wheels and parts. The build kits and group sets offer component mixes in terms of balance and extraordinary good value. Quality brand name parts are all too evident – Campagnolo, Mavic, Selle Italia, Gruppo 3T, Vredestein, T.A., Selcof – are European components well known for performance and reliability
